Finding the time to hustle

Maybe you’re thinking about quitting your job to start your own business or you just want to explore a side hustle while still working your day job. But your schedule is tight and you’re just not sure how you’re going to find the time. Between mowing your lawn, doing chores, taxiing your kids around to four different sporting fixtures and walking your dog, there’s just no time left to work on your side hustle, right? Nope!

Nope!

So how do you find the time to hustle in an already busy schedule? Hustling is hard work and it almost always means making sacrifices. To succeed at the hustle you will have to compromise, make choices between competing priorities and learn to manage your time better.

Here are a few tips to help you create the time to get hustling.

Prioritise Hustling

Maybe you’re used to hanging out with friends for a few hours a couple of times every week. It won’t kill you to cut back on that time and limit going out to once a week. Doing this alone will help you to free up a few more hours every week to hustle and work productively towards your goals.

Cut Back on Television Time and Social Media

Most people spend a lot of time each day on social media. If you’re honest about how much time you spend scrolling through Facebook or Insta, or chilling out in front of the TV, you’ll probably realise that you likely spend more than ten hours every week watching television or on social media. There’s nothing wrong with having some down time, but it’s important to ask yourself how it really enhances your life? Is it helping you reach your goals in life, whether they’re personal or career goals?  if the answer is no, it’s time to make a commitment to cutting back.

In order to succeed, when it comes to the hustle, you must learn to prioritise and make every single minute count. Spend that valuable time you’d normally spend watching TV or browsing social media on hustling your way towards your Big Hairy Audacious Goals.

Outsource

Another great way to create more hustle-time in your schedule, is to outsource some of your tasks to others. Instead of spending your whole weekend doing gardening and housework, ask yourself ‘Can I spare a little money to hire someone to do that work?’ Spending a little can mean more time working towards earning a lot.

Start Waking Up Earlier

Being a hustler means putting in the extra yards to work harder and smarter than your competitors. Start setting your alarm for an hour earlier in the mornings. You might feel a little tired to start with but you’re body will soon get used to your new ‘start time’, giving you an extra 7 hours per week to work on your hustle and get another step closer to achieving your goals.
