“Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination.”
Who said it: Oscar Wilde
Famous Irish playwright, novelist, essayist, and poet.
Why I like it:
My brother and I are both in business and have been for some time. My brother is older but that’s not the only reason I look up to him. He’s been a shoulder to cry on, an encouraging ear to talk to or yell at…or whatever I've needed along the way. We discuss business often, although not as often as I would like.
My brother taught me that to be successful, you need to extend yourself. In other words, you have to spend money to make money and when you don’t have it you have to borrow it. There are many times I’ve done exactly the opposite – I’ve mostly lived well within my means. But if I look back on my career, those times when I stuck my neck out and took a punt are the key milestones that have led me to reap the rewards down the track.
